I don't know how or why, but my laptop is definitely running slower than before. It started around a month ago, exactly on the date when my brother upgraded his macbook to 4gb ram (as if it suddenly got jealous). My specs are good: 2.0ghz core 2 duo (it's the previous blackbook), 2gb RAM, 120GB HDD, 5400 RPM). THe laptop's almost 9 months old, and I have 30GB of free space.

And when I say slower, I mean:
    * The mouse cursor -> colorful circle thing (indicating reading from the HDD) happens too often and for too long.
    * Applications open up much slower, sometimes even firefox tabs.

ANy ideas how i can isolate the cause of the problem?

you're saying safari is the reason the laptop is slowing down?

anyway, try running onyx to see if anything improves.

no i think my typing is fine. Yup it's not lagging at all, every letter comes as I type it.

I ran Onyx, will report if things improve.
