Is it possible for a third party to gain access to an inbuilt web cam without the knowledge of the owner?

ie. is there a known 'hack' that we should all be aware of?

Is it possible via 3rd party software? Yes.
It would require the admin password to install anything like that.
Also the green light will ALWAYS be on if the camera is on.

As we're on the subject, there's an article on the internet which says a university was using 3rd party softwares to monitor students and have a look in their private lives through the isight. A firewall is well advised in this case.
