So who's going to hold out for the Promise R6 and who's just going to cave and get the LaCie, which will supposedly be released earlier?

Depends on the prices... I mainly need a new backup drive and would like to get an external HDD thunderbolt drive.. but I might settle for just getting a Firewire if they keep taking so long.

I'm estimating fairly steep prices--being the first mover in the market, SSD external + RAID, plus the brand name..... :(

I'm just hoping I can daisy chain my Apple display to the HDD with no loss of performance. (Firewire sucks for daisy chaining anything despite claims of "supporting" it).

for the SSDs.. yes, I wouldn't buy one. LaCie already has a HDD version listed, so it won't be SSD only.
