Are the performance benefits of an LED screen vs. LCD screen really all that positive and tangible? I like the refreshed specs on the 17" MBP, but it's missing the LED screen.

And the correct question would be CCFL vs LED backlighting. ;)

Well, LED-backlit screens are an improvement...they use less power (extending battery life), they're brighter than CCFL screens, they don't need "warm-up time" (usually it takes nearly 5-10 minutes for a CCFL to reach true full brightness), etc...

But should this be your deciding factor? If you ask me, not really. LED-backlit displays are awesome, but its not like CCFL displays are horrible. I would consider LED-backlit displays an "extra" :p.

Yep, LED is definitely an extra, not something to base your purchase on imo. I'd take higher resolution over LED anyday. My macbook's screen is ccfl and it's one of the best notebook screens I've seen.

How would you compare LCD of Cinema Displays and iMacs?

My led matte screen is stunning.

It really blows away my 17" (Higher res) hp glossy screen, which i thought was beautiful at first :)

The glossy screens on the iMacs are way too reflective. I can't stand those. The LCD matte displays don't suffer that problem.

Why didn't you choose matte, TheSavageMac?

I personally like glossy screens...I don't find my MacBook screen too reflective, or at least not reflective enough to annoy me.

LED's are awsome lighter, brighter, and you get better battery life.
