Well I just got a refund on my POS Studio XPS 16 due to consistent hardware/motherboard issues and bought a Macbook Pro.

Always been a Windows user, but I care more about how a laptop functions more than anything else. I got a Macbook Pro because of its durability, huge touchpad, clever multitouch gestures, aluminum unibody design, and great screen quality. I can put Windows on it at the same time which really helps me out for Windows-only applications.

I ordered your basic Macbook Pro 15 off of MacMall. Only thing different is I have the high-res screen.

I've never owned a Mac before so I am excited to try it out. Anyone have any good tips? How's the durability on these things (i.e. if I carry it around in my backpack inside of a case, will a billion little things plastic pieces break in extremely short periods of time like my Studio XPS did)? I ordered a screen protector for it; are they necessary at all? One of the issues I had with my old laptop was that the keyboard scratched the screen easily when closed.

it takes a lot of pressure for the keys to rub the screen... if your getting keymarks on a Macbook Pro, you have waaaay to much weight in your bag thats pressing on it.

Don't treat it like a tank, and it will last fine... if you throw it in with a bunch of stuff that can scratch it, it wont hurt it, but it might look ugly.

Spend some time with OSX.. give it a few months... don't expect it to work like Windows. Takes some patience to lean a new OS.

Exactly. Remember that you didn't know the ins and outs of the Windows OS from day one.
