Hey eveybody, just wanted to say that I ordered myself a MacBook Pro last night. Just had to tell some ppl on here. This will be my first Apple computer, and I am looking forward to the experience of learning a new OS, especially on the sleek MBP.

I'll post lots of pics when it arrives. Do you think the admins would like another review of the MBP for the site?

Cool, congrats, and hope you like it! I've still been deciding back and forth between a regular MB and a MBP, but am definitely leaning towards the MBP. I'm still giving it a few weeks to see if the Merom stuff comes out though.

I just got an e-mail saying I have to fax them a copy of my timetable and proof of identity.

Anyone here gone through the the ADC store and know anything about shipping and processing times?

Oh man was I excited today, got home and FedEx had dropped off my MacBook Pro. This thing kicks ass!!! I am complete awe of the design and styling....perfection.

Everything is in perfect shape, I was a little worried when I first turned it on and it was kind of noisy, but that went away after a couple of minutes. Heat? What heat??? I am sitting here with it on my lap and don't even notice it.

Anyways I'm going to pm abaxter to see if he is interested in another mbp review.

Congrats. You will notice the heat sooner or later, i guarantee it. If i wouldnt had such a bad experience with my mbp i probably would have loved it myself. Hope you got a good one and good luck.

fenix has already reported it to be 50C under normal load, which quite frankly is WAY better than what I had when I first got my MB, 13C better.

After the burnin period he should be getting about 45-48C (maybe even lower), which would fall in line to what I'm getting right now which is 41-44C under normal load.

Normal load being Mail, Safari, some Instant message client open and maybe one of the iLife apps opened.

Mine's running around 53-56 under normal load. (Yeah, I couldn't resist the core duo temp widget) :)

And that's the processor - not my case, which is MUCH cooler. "Normal load" is going to be different for each person, as well.

I'm sure you have, but check the sticky at the top of the section for some cool links and tips... Also - past couple days there have been a good handful of links for cool Mac Apps from digg.

    fenix,

    Congrats on your new "toy".

A simple question, What made you choose a MacBook Pro over a simple MacBook? Would love to hear what yo uhave to say on this as I am in the field looking to upgrade / shift too.

    Thanks.

I know you actually asked the original poster, but I figured you would want more opinions on the issue :)

My own reasons for preferring the MBP over the MB are twofold:
    1) For the graphics card, since I will be using it for some gaming.
    2) Because I loathe the Macbook design, I think it's ugly. The Macbook Pro is just beautiful though, a work of art.

I know others may disagree, but those are my reasons. :)

Hey I decided on the MBP over the MB for a couple of reasons.

    1. Screen Size - 13 inch is just too small for me. I do some cad and other work for school where the extra screen real estate comes in handy.

    2. Looks - The MBP looks awesome. I'm not a fan of the thick bezel around the MB's screen

    3. Price - I went through the ADC hardware purchase so I got a much bigger discount when I bought the MBP compared to the MB It was only like a 300 buck difference between the higher-end white macbook and the low end MBP

    4. Gaming - I want the ability to play games if I so desire.

Anyways those were my reasons. I would have gone with the MB if I planning on carrying it around with me everyday.

Just got my W8616 MBP from my school. There are some issues and I'm considering to exchange it for a newer one.
The whine is pretty irritating, but I know i can send it in for a fix, and alot of people have that problem. The speakers also sounded like they're blown and it's really horrible for my ears. Other than those two problems, it works pretty well...so far.

I just want to know which serial# I should look after, the one without all these problems!!

    Thanks
