    It's VERY nice!

The anti-glare is quite refreshing, actually, and reminds me of my 2007 MacBook Pro... *sigh....*

Anyway, it's blazing fast, and with a fresh OS X install on her OCZ Vertex SSD, she's up and running and very happy. She's MORE than glad to be rid of the utterly awful 1440x900 resolution, and up to 1680x1050 (though she'd still prefer 1920x1200...).

It seems a very speedy upgrade from her 2008 unibody: 2.53Ghz C2D, 4GB, etc. I have to say, the inertial scrolling is very cool, and sort of a crime that Apple is currently only letting new owners use it!

What does she do with the machine ?!

I'm curious, because you'd think a 2.53ghz C2D and 4GB of ram are plenty fast for most stuff.... Are you guys sure it's not just the Vertex that is the main factor ?

She works for IBM, and constantly has Windows XP up under Fusion, so the extra threads available make a huge difference since she has to run two OSs. She's noticed a fairly sizable difference from her C2D machine.

So.. did you upgrade the ram to 8Gb? or stick with 4Gb? I am curious if 4G is sufficient enough to run Win7 within Fusion along side with OS X.

Still running 4gb. Will do the 8gb upgrade soonish. No trouble though so far with 4gb, especially with the SSD.

Question. Is this not available in a recent OSX update? Has Apple restricted it to new MBPs by making SL installation DVDs specific to the Macs they ship with?

    Congrats on the new laptop.

I have the Unibody with the Vertex SSD in mine as well and it is plenty quick. Just about everything I click on opens nearly instantly. I never have to wait for anything. Battery life though is poor on my Macbook Pro and heat can also be an issue.
