Hi guys, I just got my 2.2 mbp from a local Futureshop store. It was the only one in the province haha. I am just downloading Adium, firefox, and some other stuff. I want to make sure there aren't any problems with my mbp so can you guys give me a list of what can be defective? I don't know what the most common ones are so I would really appreciate it.

When you boot, if a grey screen comes up with a small white apple logo in the middle, that's the warning from the diagnostics. Turn off the notebook immediately and return it.

with some of the mbp's, the lower 1/3 of the screen has a yellowish tint. Also some people have had problems with there mbp's running at higher than usually temperatures due to sloppy application of thermal paste on the cpu and gpu.

Looking for problems to be worried about is bad policy in my eyes. I'm like that and I always end up finding something...

Anyways, here is some crap to look for:

    1. 90 degrees Celsius or higher under load consistently
    2. Yellowed screen not fixed by screen calibration
    3. Warped screen/lid, hard to close
    4. Exploding weasel popping out of SuperDrive
    5. Stake rammed through apple logo

If the notebook spontaneously combusts, or causes the Devil to appear and steal your soul, it's probably defective.

hehe has the list. It may look scary, but don't worry, most of the issues have been fixed and even if they haven't they only affect a very low percentage of Macs. But remember nothing is perfect, so don't freak out ;).

If the  logo lights up in the lid, immediately close the MacBook Pro and throw it out the window. Wait, there's no Windows to throw out!! :p :D :p Then just jump on it and make sure your Mac doesn't get out of the house.

I think some new MBP's had a screen flickering problem.

How can I tell the yellowish bottom half of screen? I am noticing that my bottom half of lcd is a bit darker than my top half.

If you can fill the screen with some solid color, you'll be able to easily recognize if the bottom half has a yellow tint to it.

Don't be hesitant on a mac! I was GOING To get a pro when I realized I didn't need all the power. I opted for a macbook and I love it!
