Well I passed by my university's computer store today, and decided to give Leopard a try. It looked nicer, but felt the same as Tiger. Stacks was the downside of my 10-minute play around. Useless with folders that hav ea lot of files, and bad when some windows were open behind stacks. But I decided to buy it anyways because of hte price. $99. I don't think I can ever get it any cheaper.

I'll install this new baby within the next week and have a review of it... this will all be done once I figure out how to format my HD, and whether there's anything else I need to do before/after that.

It's not that bad... I prefer the "Grid" layout instead of the fan. :)

    i found this on google:

    Is all that stuff necessary?
Also, any good freeware programs to make a bootable clone of my drive?

I agree, AuroraS. Fan looks nice, but isn't very convenient to me. I prefer Grid look.

Another Tiger user goes Leopard...I'm increasingly being isolated :D. I have cashmonee with me, though! ;)

Looking forward to the review, sepandee :).

really? then why does everyone keep suggesting other programs when they already have disk utility (and I highly doubt they're not aware of it).

question: should I clone on a read-only disk image or a read and write "sparse" disk image?

I have some lame question - I have clean installed Leopard (Tiger was a default). Where can I find iLife and other soft? Shall I install it from Tiger's cds (apps only)?

You want to do a Restore if you want to create a bootable external HD. Just select any disk from the left hand menu, click on Restore tab in the main window, and click & drag the disks you want to copy from/to into the two address boxes there. Disk Utility will then create a carbon copy of your selected source onto your selected destination.

Leopard does not come with iLife. iLife only comes free with the purchase of a new Mac. Therefore, you will have to use the Tiger disk that came with your Mac to install iLife. And yes, you can just choose to install apps only in the installation wizard.

Yeaps, its pretty commonly mistaken that iLife comes with the OS, and it actually comes with the Mac...so iLife '08 won't be included in Leopard. Just a heads up :).

So yes, install from the Tiger disc.
