Yup, finally made the plunge, my university reccomends a gateway tablet, but I said "F that!" and got a MBP... I'm so psyched to get this! Its supposed to arrive, with my free iPod and free printer, on the 28th! I'll let everyone know how it is once I get it, and maybe I'll write an official review for the 17"MBP

Sounds like an exciting buy. I was considering one myself for a day or two, but I am still looking.

Haha as long as you are comfortable parting ways with all that cash haha, but in all seriousness I think you'll be happy. I've got my 15" coming in the mail, also I'm curious to see what the temps are like in the 17, supposedly they are supposed to run cooler.

So you are going to lug a 17" notebook around to lectures?

The 15" MacBook Pro may have been the better choice :)

Nah, 15 are too common. 17 are rare treasures.
    Congrat!

well I dont really plan on taking it to to many lectures, I'd prefer to hand write most of the stuff, but when I do need to write on it, I dont mind carrying it around, its almost a pound lighter than my Dell Inspiron 1100 14" (this beast is 7.5lbs and its only 3 years old...) so it'll be fine, plus the 15" ones run very hot from what I've heard, and I have used the 17" and its just warm after being on for a few hours.
And I love OS X! and its so much more fun on a fast computer, my last mac was a G3 450MHz... but before that I had an iMac G5 20"+iBook G4 12", this should fit right inbetween them and replace both (well it has to since I sold both of them!)
