    Hey, I recently bought a 2007 15" Macbook Pro on ebay. The motherboard has just been replaced for the known 8600M GT failing issue, I was just wondering if the replacement has got any chance of failing? Thanks

    Hope you bought it cheap because it won't be a matter of if it fails, but when. There's no way of telling how long before it does, and the program for free logic board replacement ended months ago.

    There's absolutely no way of determining when electronics, new or used, are going to fail. That's just a chance you have to take. The odds of failure have increased due to the use of the 8600M (and that you purchased a 6 year old computer) but it could fail tomorrow or a few years down the line. There isn't anything you can do to predict when it will fail.

    if it was just replaced.. you may get lucky. Many that were replaced still run fine today including a friend of mines.
