Im trying to load windows with BootCamp and Im using an OEM but it wont install is it because its an OEM with SP2.

When you say OEM are you meaning like a Dell recovery disc? Or OEM like OEM from Newegg? Also, make sure you are starting and running Boot Camp from an Admin account.

It has to be a legitimate full install of windows XP SP2. OEM vs retail shouldn't make a difference. OEM's generally aren't supplied by a system manufacturer.

I had a similar problem as well, though I was told that it shouldn't matter. I couldn't get my dell oem cd to work, some suspected the disc was looking for dell drivers? Anyway, I got hold a friends full xp version w/sp2 and it worked swiftly and no problems. Also, I see quite a few sellers off loading their windows xp/pro w/sp2 on clist cheaply.

Yeah, there is a difference between OEM and retail.
other than the fact that OEM is manufactrer stuff, it also contains all your computers information you bought it with, and when it runs it will look for the hardware thats on that disc to compare and verify, if it don't you're outta luck. Gotta love MS's anti piracy methods.
Retail is what you need. -

Basically the point I'm trying to get across is, if you recieve an XP disc from a PC manufacturer it's pretty much not going to work at all, because the disc will also contain all of PC's crapware (bloatware) as well as it checking your systems configuration.

How about the OEM from New Egg? Anyone try this?

Newegg is just a reseller, just as if you were to walk into a retail store and buy a copy of XP, so there should be no problem installing XP with Boot Camp on your notebook.
Is windows not working with BootCamp becuase its an OEM?
