    Hi,

I always want to give MAC a try. I bought my X60s just to wait for the next gen of MacBook or the smaller MBP.

Now, someone is selling a iBook locally for 400$.

It has G4 1.33G/512MB/40GB/wireless and 21 months warranty left.

I think it's a steal. But I have no experience with apple products. Am I right?

It will run Office pretty well. Since its already a PowerPC you don't have to worry about Office running under the Rosetta emulator.

However, if you can, upgrading the RAM to 1 GB would be nice.

Sounds like a good deal, and if office things are the only things you want it for, it should do nicely :)

I think its worth the money because it still has 21 months of warranty left. Considering the warranty costs about $300, you're almost paying just $100 for a fully functional laptop! That is a very good deal. Plus you can try out Mac OS X with this iBook.

It'll handle all your office stuff, itunes stuff, and even CS2 stuff nicely. I have a couple friends who still lug around their 12" ibooks around campus because it's light, still looks good, and works fine for what they're using it for.

    thanks guys.

unfortunately, it seems to be a scam. I emailed the guy and give him my cell number. He replied and said he's in UK now.... I don't understand why he posted in my local craigs' list.

the refurbished ones cost 800$, while the new ones cost 1000 with student discount :( + free ipod.

I think I will wait till October when leopard is out. I'll sell my x60s then and get a macbook :)

I hope by then, they have the LED screen and some major upgrade.

actually, Sam. Do you think the macbook is a bit too heavy for its size?

That's the real killer for me.

Well, for its size there certainly are lighter notebooks out there. Is it really a killer for you? I don't consider 5 pounds too heavy.

    :) I mean a 14" should weight about 5 pounds.

I tried it in the local apple store. I absolutely love it.
