if i had installed apple remote desktop i wouldn't be concerned, this is one of 4 updates from a fresh install of leopard 10.5 - does it belong?

I think it's completely normal. Although, I am a sheep when it comes to <noparse>Apple</noparse>'s recommended updates. Sorry I do not have a better explanation. After a clean Leopard install these are all of my updates to date (note - I do not have iWork or iLife installed):

Also, you may find several permission warnings after installing updates in Leopard, one specific to the <noparse>Apple</noparse> Remote Desktop (ARD). And apparently you can resolve all warnings except the ARDAgent one by installing the 10.5.1 Update from the MacOSXUpd10.5.1.dmg (instead of with <noparse>Apple</noparse> Software Update) --> Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update DMG.

    Code:
Warning: SUID file "usr/libexec/load_hdi" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.

    Seriously, ‘Repair Permissions’ Is Voodoo

    in windows?

before i post benches (i will make a new thread) i need to settle some rmclock issues. i want to push the parts further. I recently learned that the heatsink between the cpu and gpu is shared, so i need to get my cpu temps down.

they both use deparate fans though, what type of CPU temps are you getting?

and yes in windows, unless you are overclocking in OS X as well.

My temps aren't bad, but not as good as my M1330.

Usually idle about 47-50C on default fan settings. My M1330 CPU (admittedly only a 2Ghz and not a 2.4Ghz) idled at about 35C.
