    Hi all,
I was just wondering if you could tell me whether or not I'm picking up a good deal from someone selling their 2007 Macbook Pro.

    The specs are:

    2.16 Ghz Core 2 Duo
    3Gb Ram
    320Gb 7200rpm HDD
    OSX Leopard
    Radeon X1600 128mb
    15" Matte Screen

    There's (obviously) no warranty left.

From the pictures he's shown, it seems in pretty good condition.

The guy selling will take £590 inc for it but just want to be sure I'm not paying over the odds.

This is the first time I've ever owned a Mac so I don't know if I'm getting a good deal. I really like the look and feel of OS X and would like to adopt it in favour of Windows.

    Cheers!
    Mark

Not a good deal in the US. Maybe in the UK. Not sure the pricing there.

For about £100-200 more, you can get a second hand 13" aluminium Macbook/MBP from eBay in excellent condition, which would be approx 6 months old and better speced. £590 for a second hand low end MBP approaching 3 years old is not a good deal.

thats a 2007? I haven't looked it up to be sure, but the specs sure sound like a 2006... maybe the person bought it in 2007?

That doesn't sound right. It's certainly not a stock machine.

I myself have a late 2007 15" MBP. They're 2.4 GHz standard, with less RAM and memory. They also came with Tiger. It's possible he made these updates himself and didn't have Applecare to cover them.

I think you could find better.

And you know that some "geniuses" won't accept the laptop if it has been opened by anybody apart from an authorised apple technician.

Especially on the older models where It wasn't clearly stated the RAM and HD were user servicable parts.
