The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Is there some sort of software that deletes the yellow tag asking for money on Wikipedia?

    Adblock should work too.

Sorry, Adblock doesn't work. I think that's because it is not an "ad". It's imbedded on every Wikipedia page by the developers. :eek2:

Well, I don't get that thing. Maybe they still haven't began their Christmas attraction over here.

You don't have to put (Mac) in everything you want to post in the Mac section of the forums. Make sure you are in that set of forums and simply post. It is safe to assume that everyone in here is either talking about OS X or iOS since the title of this section of the forums specifies that. I've never come across an article on wikipedia requiring payment before seeing it. After all, wikipedia is a completely free service and has been since the very beginning. Are you sure you are on the real wikipedia? I've come across an ad at the top asking for donations but I have never observed a yellow tag asking for money before an article can be viewed.

There used to be an Ad on the top but this time it is a yellow tag-looking giant Ad with text in it that follows you even when you scroll down. Usually I like to use the spacebar to go a page down but with this tag following, it doesn't work and I have to use the arrow key going down one line at a time.

Maybe getting a good mouse with nice scrolls would solve the problem.

I just realized that you can X the ad and it will disappear. I guess that's not too much of a hassle.

PS. I put the (Mac) for myself so I know where my threads are when I'm looking at my subscription list.

Here are some reasons not to donate to Wikipedia I found. http://www.mywikibiz.com/Top_10_Reasons_Not_to_Donate_to_Wikipedia

Yes. Does Wiki ask for donations only US?
There's always been a donation request with Jimbo's mug on the top of the page around Christmas time. But I never heard about them "yellow tags".

Click the x in the upper right corner and it closes.

Yeah, I noticed that after I closed it, using the X, it hasn't appeared again.

To be fair, the OP was looking for some kind of platform specific ad-blocking software. He couldn't have known that the solution would happen to be cross-platform. Well, maybe he could have, but he didn't.
