    Thanks

thank you sam much appreciated, I guess not many people use their Mac's for "real" scientific writing, or they do-- but do not hang out here.

EDIT: Here is an excellent site for Scientist using Mac

Mellel and Bookends seem to be fairly specialized programs, and it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't a freeware version that could readily replace/replicate the features included in both.

Edit: Looks like there's a special deal if you buy them both http://www.redlers.com/mellelspecialoffer.html

yes, I saw that, Syrc. Thanks.

What do people here use as their bibliogrpahic software for writing papers in college?

In MSWord I use EndNote, there is a mac version of this but works only in MSWord for Mac. I am planning to stick with iWork and proly get Mellel/Bookend for my writing.

Bibliographic software? Do you mean for putting in a Bibliography or Works Cited page? For that, I use an MLA/APA/Chicago handbook.

For bibliographical searches, I use the GALILEO system in Georgia. Whatever reference system your school's library uses, they will generally give you the library password for remote access. I haven't been a student for several years, but I can still call up my old Uni's reference desk to get the current password, which gives me access to all sorts of bibliographical information, including the OED.
