Is there a harddrive/DVD read/write indicator on MBP?

On most optical drives, there's a LED that blinks to indicate activities but I can't find one on my MBP...

And my DVD drive is insanely quiet--you can't even hear it when it's spinning :) So I am wondering if there's a way to monitor DVD activities and harddrive activities without the LEDs?

Menu Meters can monitor at least the hard drive, from memory.

Hrm, actually my DVD drive is the one thing I can hear on my MBP when it's running. It gives a small whirl when you first turn the thing on, and you can hear it when it starts or stops spinning.
