I'd really like the Pro, but three cons scare a bit:

    1. They say the Pro battery time is worse. Does anybody have actual experience? LED and Santa Rosa seems to have changed this as the Apple website is stating 6 hours for both now.

    2. They say the Pro WiFi range is about the half of the MacBook because of the material. Has anybody made actual side by side tests using NetStumbler or similar?

    3. Size. The more portable, the more lovable.

1.) It depends on what you are doing. Are you using intense graphics applications? If so, battery life will be quickly drained.

2.) I'm not sure on that.

3.)Macbook pros are better, they have more neat features, such as the back lit keyboard. Also, it's very small with a 17" capability, and it's still small when it's with 17".

its hard to speak for the wifi range, despite having a brand new macbook and macbook pro right here. they are very very similar in strength.

the new macbook pro battery definitely outlasts the macbook by a relatively wide margin. 6 hours might be a stretch of the imagination, but i could certainly expect somewhere over 5 with effort. Usually the battery lasts 4 1/2 hours for me, with no effort to dim the screen or cut off bluetooth or wifi or what not.

Size is certainly personal preference. for me- i enjoy the extra desktop screen space of 15" more than the portability of 13". honestly the footprint doesnt change that much between them. 17" to 15" also probably doesnt change that much. but i will say if you go from 13" to 17" you will notice a huge difference is both screen real estate and clarity / portability.

also, the weight difference seems to be somewhat significant even going up to the next 2" model. a solid pound or so is nothing to laugh at when considering portability.
