snow leopard is coming some time this year, and I am really worried about the video card bad bump problem inquirer has discovered in the 9600 card of the unibody MBP. I was hoping maybe new batch of MBP would come with snow leopard and free of the bad bump since nVidia has announced that they are on a transition from those high lead bump(more likely to be bad bump) to low lead bump.

if you can wait, you should wait till fall, both ati and nvidia recently unveiled new architectures, intel is coming out with the i7 architecture for notebooks this fall.
If the MBP gets updated with these architectures, it will truely be next generation in comparison to the latest iteration which is basically the same crap thats been out the last two years.
Your current notebook doesn't differ much from the macbook pro in terms of performance, I'd wait if I were you. There's just no way to be certain of the 9600M GT to be free of the defect since its a cheap mass produced card that many OEM's have ordered.
But if you really need the MBP right now, you should get Applecare, so you can atleast be on the safe side in case anything happens. -
BTW,mbp uses latest nvidia platform.and next major update will happen in ~ a year!also,no one reported any problems except inquirer !

I am hoping in the future MBP comes with matte screen option
Is now a good time to buy MBP
