I bought my self a Elgato Thunderbolt SSD sometime back and even started a thread here about the same now the thing is that the thunderbolt cable seems to be getting hotter while operating compared to when it was new.
To keep this in perspective the head and cable near the head get hot earlier only the head got warm.I am using a movie converter to directly write on the Elgato Thunderbolt SSD.
The other head connected to the SSD does not get as hot as the one connected to the computer.

My thunderbolt cable does the opposite. I have a Seagate 1TB hard drive and their portable thunderbolt cradle for said hard drive. The connector going into the cradle gets warm while the connector going into my MBA stays at (about) the same temperature. I haven't measured it with a thermometer but it feels like a few degrees C. Unless your cable is getting so hot you can't touch it, I wouldn't really worry. You can always measure it with a thermometer to see if the temperature is getting hot enough for concern.

like all living things that strive towards rotten, same goes for all electronic devices... apple made.. dell.. hp.. lenovo... NASA...
if it still works, be happy..
Is my thunderbolt cable getting hotter with passage of time?
