I have a Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz - the newest version and I do a lot of converting DVD files to h.264 to play on my Apple TV.

I am really getting frustrated by the amount of time it takes to encode a movie. I have seen that the elgato turbo.264 USB device claims to speed up the conversion, however will the device really be worth it, will it make a big difference to the conversion speeds?

Your comments would be greatly appreciated!

I´d be interested in some more stats: When converting say a 4,7 gig (single layer) movie using h.264 what time does it take for your MBP to do the job?
