They must have used that new scent spray, just like you can buy for cars!! :D

But to the OP, I think it's worth it because Apple refurbs go through a strict refurbishment process, and can some times be better than new. For instance, if anything is found faulty, the bad component often gets replaced by a new, more up-to-date component. Secondly you have the assurance that it's going through a second inspection, whereas new units are just inspected once and shoved out the wherehouse.
I personally wouldn't get a refurb right now because Apple's latest models are pretty good updates IMHO.

One of my classic MacBook Pros was a refurb and it was absolutely perfect. Saved a bundle, never had a problem with it, full warranty. Apple refurbs are one of the best deals going. I wouldn't hesitate to order another.

    Good luck.

My current uMB (unibody MacBook) is a refurbished and I love it. You would never of have guessed it unless I tell you by looking at it of course. Also with Apple you get the standard year of Apple Care so if something does go wrong, it is taken care of.

mine is also a refurb and its perfect I was worried about dead pixels but couldn't find any. It comes in a plain white box but I brought a original box on fleebay don't know why though.

its been over a month now since I brought the macbook, and the only problem I'm having is the fan nearest to the usb ports has become much louder making a humming sound, the other fan is extremely quiet and you won't hear it until it gets to around 2500rpm. I may give apple a call to see if they will replace it because the sound is annoying.
