Is it really worth the extra $200 for the DVDRW Macbook?

Here's why. I was told the $1449 model MB, though it has a 2.0cpu vs a 1.83cpu on the entry model (though thats not an issue to me), the dvd burning is supposed to be very slow on the MB's. So even for a guy who rarely burns DVDs, is it even worth forking out the $200 for the DVDRW model if its slow performance? How much are ext. dvdrw drives these days? Im sure even for $200, you can get much better performance can you not?

Im just trying to decide if the $1249 combo drive pkg is better suited for my needs, meaning extra money NOT being wasted.

It's not slow performance at all in my opinion, it took me about 5-7 minutes to burn 3 some GB of data, thats pretty average.

Just gotta know if you get an external DVD burner, don't waste money on a super fast one, since it will be limited by the speed of whatever port your using such as USB...in this case I recommend finding one that uses Firewire.

If you use it scarcely and already have a DVD-RW in another machine, or plan to buy an external drive... I would go for it, the premium is too big. OTOH if you ever intend to sell it, it might be easier to sell one with a DVD-RW.
