Is iCloud the best way to sync between two iDevices (iPod Touch & iP4)?

My niece has been using an iPod Touch for a while & recently her mom gave her old iP4? So she wants to sync everything from her iPT to her iP4. I've successfully sync'd all her all her music & apps but not her contacts & photos.

I've turned on sync via wifi & I've turned on iCloud on both devices but her contacts & photos isn't showing up on the iP4. Should I sync with the iPT then turn on iCloud on the iP4? I won't be able to test this until later tonight when I come over her house for dinner.

    TIA.

You need to go into the settings of the iPhone 4 (that's what I am interpreting iP4 to be) along with the iPod touch to make sure that contacts, photos, etc. are synced to her iCloud account. That way they will be transferred from one device to another and any photo taken with the iPhone will automatically show up on the iPod touch just as any contact entered on the iPod touch will transfer over to the iPhone. It doesn't really have anything to do with syncing but rather just synchronizing iCloud on both devices and making sure that iCloud has been turned on for whatever information she wants to share across both of them.

I believe I did that yesterday when I set up her iP4 (yes, sorry was too lazy to type iPhone 4). She called me this morning & said the contacts & photo's have yet to show up on her iP4. I'll check when I come over for dinner later on tonight.

It should work on both devices so long as they are setup that way. However, I do remember it taking a while for contacts and photos to transfer from my iPad to my Mac for the first time (about 2 days). Now though, if I take a photo with my iPad 3 at work, it shows up in my iPhoto photo stream on my Mac by the time I get home (about 6 hours later). The same is true whenever I make a new contact on my Mac or iPad, it takes a few hours for it to transfer over to the other device through iCloud.
