1.I'm really really picky about keyboards, is it good? i want to buy one tomorrow and im so worried about it, i have Vaio CS16 now and i want a keyboard with same quality, because there's no way to replace apple laptop keyboards in my country, so i want to be sure it works fine for at least 2 years.

2.Is Macbook 13 White keyboard better or Unibody?

It's the strongest keyboard i've used on a laptop. (I've used Dells, hp, toshiba, acer and packard Bell), perhaps some more which i've forgotten.

2.4 version is $1790 in my country...should i buy it? is it really that good?

because i could buy a hp with amazing system, but i really love mac and it's so rare in here(that's why it has different price).

If it's the macbook pro, then go with it, else go with the hp..The macbook is overly priced in your country.

For the keyboards they are very much a personal preference, if you can go to a retailer that has one and try it out for yourself. Anyone who is picky with their keyboard feel should most definitely try before you buy no matter who makes it

    It's $1,599.00 on apple.com, it's $150-190 more here (some places sell it for $1750)

I really love to buy it but im still worried about keyboard.

about hp = my last(sony) laptop have 1 crack on it after 2 months, so i hate to buy plastic laptops again.

No stronger / better than the better Samsungs, Sony's, etc - but fine in general. Key feel is too sudden in terms of 'landing' but otherwise I can think of plenty of worse keyboards.

i would say 1500-1700 are a little bit too expensive for a macbook(for my wallet at least); and i would not get it.

    consider thinnkpad

screen wise(i don't own a macbook, but i have seen enough of the difference) macbook is one of the worst there is.

not a fan of the chicklets keyboard so i can't say much about it, but i very much prefer my x41t tablet's keyboard over mac's due to the depth of it.

In terms of build, I can't say out of personal experience - I don't think I've ever bought a Sony less than the current UK equivalent of AUD$3,000 since... well, since VAIO was launched, I think.

But it's a fact that the low-end machines like the CS are made in China to about the same quality as Apples and Dells of similar prices. Looking at the specs of the CS, I think it's a very weak offering to be honest - you're paying a premium for Blu-Ray which you may never use (would you?), and the machine is way overweight.

The Crapbook 2.4 is not a particularly terrible buy, although there are equally if not more compelling machines for the same, or a bit more. At 4.5lbs it's an OK weight. It has enough grunt for most things. It's very pretty and some people put an inordinately high premium on OS X.

True - it has a terrible screen (I've seen better on year-old Dell XPS M1330's which were probably the worst notebooks I've owned bar Apples, and both of my Crapbooks have the 'good' screens in the three(?)-panel lottery), relatively short runtime compared to similarly-priced 13" machines, crap wireless, suspect durability etc but it is a very attractive package which feels good to use.

Lenovo (Thinkpad) definitely has representation in Australia / NZ.

    http://www.lenovo.com/nz/en/
    http://www.lenovo.com/au/en/

Personally, I think even the top-end Thinkpads are relatively overrated in terms of build quality from people who bought one a long time ago then bought cheap crap from someone else now.

However if I was into the 80's accountant look :p, I would definitely take a look at the Thinkpad SL300 13" version for something comparable to the CS and the Crapbook.

However, spending only a few dollars more than the Crapbook 2.4 (with 4Gb RAM) in Australia gets you a Sony VGNZ16GNB - a considerably more awesome machine on many levels.

    1. The Macbook keyboard is quite strong, and it gets the job done. I use and abuse it when I'm playing games, and it's still holding up like it's brand new. Very tactile keys, and will stay that way for years. ;)

    2. I believe they have the same keys/keyboard, except the Unibody Macbook 2.4GHz's keyboard has backlit keys. They both feel the same to me. ;)

    Hope that helps!

toughbook if you don't play games, they should be the most durable for consumer products. but they go for 2000+ CAD

toshiba's R500 is magnesium alloy chassis, a lighter material and stronger than aluminum, while screen is matte(i prefer this over glass/glossy), the viewing angle is as bad as macbook's

tt/tz from sony is imo a good choice too for sturdy notebooks

HP and dell has their elite/precision series but i am not a fan of american style

if you want to at least play some games, for a small(13.3 or less) size notebook macbook should perform the best w/ 9400m as others will be using 4500 intel.

if you do not care for games, toughbook gets my vote. for less pricy, sony tt/tz is nice, for even cheaper price, toshiba R500 is a really nice choice too, i love their weight and size as well as battery life.

macbook will have 4hours w/ wifi, where as toughbook/tt/tz/r500 will get 6-8+ with wifi and for some with extended battery.

thinkpad t400 will have similar performance to macbook and a business-oriented style and even if it isn't as typist-happy compare to x41t(due from cost cutting and weight saving on their keyboard), it should still be better than the slimmer profile keyboard on most/all other brands.

x200/s will be similar to the other models i mentioned above.

ultra-portable(x200 and the likes) will have a slower CPU because they are ULV(less than 17W) where as macbook's will consume 35W so please don't compare apple to orange on CPU performance(just in case)

It depends on what you mean by 'nicest'. If by 'nicest' you're talking about the sort of machine someone like Paris Hilton would pick without reservation from others, yes.

Beware!!!! Apple drivers are all crappy for bootcamp. It's totally unreliable!!!! I've had lockups several times after i have logged on to my bootcamp partition. I think i will format it and give it all a go after exams are over at uni.

Yes, I'd say that, although others which are much cheaper and often in a different category are mostly black plastic and huge.

I don't really make any judgements one way or the other, but my experience lead me to consider Apple gear appropriate only for two uses:

    1. Running OS X (which some consider superior, I don't - merely an alternative, a fine OS but deficient in terms of versatility)
    2. You're only equipped to make your decision based on looks.
