    Hi all,

I've got an IBM/Lenovo T60 on order with the 15" Flexview screen that's (theoretically) going to arrive shortly. Two main reasons I got it... It's built like a tank, it's got the gorgeous IPS screen, and international support.

Unfortunately, due to a way too long story that has to deal with my wife's X41 Tablet, I've run out of patience with IBM/Lenovo and I'm seriously considering cancelling the T60 and getting something else.

The Macbook was next on my list. I stayed away from it primarily for the heat issues and I didn't think the screen was as good as the Flexview. (I'm going to do a lot of photography and Photoshop).

My question though is... what is international support for Apple like? I'm going to be in Cairo, Egypt. It's hot there. Very hot and very dusty. One of the reasons I was concerned about the heat.

If this thing conks out on me, what can I expect regarding turnaround on service time? I tried calling Apple support to find out but they don't want to talk to me since I don't have a system...

    Thanks

    Tim

I can't speak for myself as I haven't gotten my MBP yet but my Uncle who have been using Macs since the 1st ones came out says their international support has been pretty good but he's only have to use them between San Francisco, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong.

For international warranty, there are 3 companies I trust.
    1) Fujitsu
    2) Apple
    3) HP

Now I know for certain in the asia pacific us and europe thw warranties will be no problem, Egypt... I am unsure. I suggest you find out more about any Apple retailers down there.

BTW I notice you are going to do a lot of photoshop. The native intel app fr the mac will not be ready till 2007.

RAM shouldn't void your warranty and neither should upgrading your HD (you have to put your original HD back in when you send it in for service, however).
