I literally have to shout for sound to be picked up.

I've been in the Windows control panel as well as the Realtek Audio control panel and made sure that microphone volume is at the maximum limit and that mic boost has been turned on. I'm using the latest driver from Realtek as of July 24th, 08. I'm on a pre-SR MBP, 2.2Ghz.

    Help?

    Have you tried this:

    - Go into the Windows Volume Control/Mixer, it's Start> Run> sndvol32
(that works for either XP or Vista)
    - Click Options > Advanced.
    - Select the Recording radio button

And then make sure the Checkbox right beneath Microphone is checked.
