Is it just me or does the article mention nothing about the Intel Powerbook? ;)

Reports are indicating that the first of Apple's Intel macs will be delivered at MacWorld San Francisco, considering that the Yonah processor is being announced around the same time.

I would suspect that Intel powered notebooks would be hitting the shevles a little bit earlier than that, but if its official, then I guess it has to go!

*shrug* Apple never claimed to be releasing the new processor line this January that was just consumer speculation.

Well, being an Mac lover and user for many many years, I think it's still the best prosumer computer in the world. It's beautifully engineered and designed. I loved the powerbooks and I have had 4 powerbooks since 1992. I recently upgraded to the HD PB15 with everything thrown in. I was going to wait for the intel powerbook but unfortunately my old Powerbook Silver 12 died a few weeks earlier and I use my Powerbook virtually everywhere, everyday, 24/7, 365 days a year. Therefore, the wait for repair is impossible. Therefore, I ordered the new Powerbook from Apple Store and got it in a week. I had to say, version 3/4 of Powerbook Silver is much much better than the original version (which I had and died). Overall performance is virtually double. However, having read the intel report about dual core processor and I felt frustrated that I bought the new powerbook so earlier, though not disappointed. I doubt that Apple will release the new powerbook that early in Jan 06 because that will kill their existing stock of powerbooks. June is more realistic but I guess it would be around Easter time... that will give time for the remaining powerbooks to sell while not keeping the investor and fans waiting too long.

I wouldn't gripe too much over it - Apple is going to support the Power PC way into the future and will be compatible with new software through X-Code (although this will slow down performance quite a bit). Also - All PBs have that "timeless" look, so no one can tell if you've got a 5 year old PB or a brand new one :p
