    Im looking at buying a 160 Gb Intel SSD from Newegg, Whats the difference with these two drives;

    Drive 1, Newegg.ca - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2MH160G2R5 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
    Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2MH160G2R5 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (449$)

    Drive 2, Newegg.ca - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2M160G2XXX 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD
    Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2M160G2XXX 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - OEM 449$ regular price (429$ sale price)

    Which would be better in my i5 Mbp.

    thanks, xDC

    Both of them have G2 in the part number, so I think that they are the same drive. The difference between the two is the packaging that they come in. An OEM drive is not going to have the retail packaging that you would normally see/get if you were to buy it in a B&M retailer.

    I would suggest that you get the second one as you will save $20 and get the same exact drive in the end.

    Edit: If you look in the galleries of the two products and look at the shots of the actual drive, they are identical, down to the firmware version.

    The OEM drive also does not come with documentation + the disc with drivers and such.

    This is what the extra $20 gets you for the retail version:
    Includes installation kit that contains: 3.5" desktop drive bay adapter to 2.5" SSD adapter bracket, screws, installation guide, and warranty documentation

    If you are comfortable without documentation / do not need any of that stuff get the OEM. Otherwise I would spend the extra money for the retail version.

    I am comfortable enough to do it, but money is not issue so I will get the retail one. Thanks for the answers.
