Is there any difference between the two? I'm not very tech savvy. Thanks.

Santa Rosa is newest Core 2 Duo version with 800mhz bus and other more or less important features. Model number for cpus goes - 7100 7300 7500 etc. (previous models was 7200 7400 etc.)

But when you're ordering from the Apple Store online, how do you know which one you're getting?

What people are trying to say is that new Core 2 Duo IS Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is just a name for the new Core 2 Duos in laptops. If you are ordering a Macbook, it will technically be Core 2 Duo, but an older version that is NOT Santa Rosa. If you, for instance, ordered a Macbook Pro, it WOULD be Santa Rosa, because those have newer Core 2 Duos. The difference is VERY small in speed anyway, so it really doesn't matter. Although, some people think the Macbooks will be upgraded to newer (Santa Rosa) Core 2 Duos around October.
