Does anyone have experience with this software? My wife just ordered a MBP 2.2 and is really concerned about viruses. She has been a Windows user and this is her first Mac. I have told her not to worry about those kind of things on a Mac, but she still wants to know about virus protection. BTW, I just ordered me a MBP 2.4.

Stay away from anti-virus for Macs until it is actually needed. The only thing you will get out of it is problems. I would tell your wife it is not necessary and they usually cause problems.

Actually Intego VirusBarrier is a very good program and has proven to present no problems. This program is highly promoted at the Macworld SF shows every year. Norton anti-virus has been horrible to the Mac OS and you should stay away from that.
At this time it's just sort of a waste of money investing in anti-virus software for the Macintosh which is a good thing! Piece of mind is good but you just don't need to put money into it. When people say Macs are expensive I tell them with a Mac you don't have to invest in anti-virus software subscriptions like Windows.

How about firewalls used with the Mac OS?

Mac OS X has a excellent built-in firewall. This is one of the things that Windows Vista tried to mimc. Apple is well known for it's firewall implementation. Believe it or not it's turned off by default.
