What is the correct method of installing windows xp on boot camp?

    Is it.....
    1) slipstream xp sp2 onto a new disc
    2) install boot camp with xp sp2 disc
    3) install update boot camp 2.1
    3) download xp sp3 from microsoft and install in windows

    Is that right?

Yes, if I am not mistaken you need to update Boot Camp to 2.1 before you upgrade to sp3.

IMHO, i don't think this is very important. I usually go with your procedure but just because i don't have a SP3 slipstreamed disk and I'm too lazy to create one -.-

I did as i said above but i come across a problem when trying to install windows.

I slip streamed SP2 using nlite and burnt it to a disc.

When i use it to install XP through boot camp, after it finishes copying all the files to the hard drive and restarts, when it boots back up it says:

Press any key to boot from CD.....
    Disk error
    Press any key to restart

Does anyone have problems when they try installing XP sp2 with boot camp?

Have you tried to install Windows into a normal PC with that disk which you created ?
Is your copy of Windows XP SP2 legit ?

When "Press any key to boot from CD....." displayed on your screen did you press any key? (you should not) I also noticed that there are long inactivity periods (2-3) minutes at a time when installing Windows on the Mac. You may also want to burn the slipstreamed CD again using a lower speed (lowest?) with your burning software if this continues to be a problem. Good luck.

Can you just use an image instead of a cd? Or do you need the CD so you can boot into it?

I am not 100% sure but I think that Boot Camp is looking in the CD drive but I may be wrong. BTW you did not answer any of the questions we asked you. How can we then help you?

Sorry, My windows disk is genuine and has a corporate key. I created a another CD as the other was broken (didn't work on a pc). And after doing some googling, boot camp needs the CD to install windows.

I had the same problem. It drove me up the wall for the best part of the weekend.

You can solve the problem easily. Once you see windows restarting for the first time, hold the "alt" key when your machine reboots. Select the Windows partition when prompted and you should then boot into the second part of the windows installation cycle.
