I've installed Parallels on my Macbook Pro OS X and am wondering if there is a way to install Windows xp from a Toshiba backup dvd? This is the only Windows install that I have which came with my previous laptop - Toshiba. Obviously, I prefer not to have to purchase Windows; any suggestions?

Pre-installed copies of Windows on PC's are not legally able to be transferred to other machines. It's also against the forum rules.

dbam is correct on both counts.

For a MS install via Parallels, Fusion etc you need to use a retail or system builder copy of Windows. OEM backup copies are license violations.

Best place to purchase this would be NewEgg.

Thank-you for the replies, I wasn't aware this was in violation  Now that I know, I will be purchasing the latest version of Windows 7!
