So I just installed XP pro on my MBP through Bootcamp. Everytime I boot up in OS X I see a drive labeled "No Name" under my Mac drive. I know this is the Windows drive but I was just wondering if there was a way I could remove this from my desktop when I'm in OS X.

Rename it in windows. Start windows and go to my computer. right click on Local disk (C: ) and rename it to "Windows" or what you want. This will also be what OS X shows.

can you access your windows partition just from a icon on the desktop (in OS X and windows)?
and can you read movie/ music off it easily?(ie point and click)

dont the 2 partition exist independently of each other? thats what i thought anyways. i read that somewhere if you want a partition that can be accessed by both OSX and windows you need a third partition.

You can access the windows partition from OSX and you can read from it. If you used FAT32 you can also write to it. If you used NTFS then you need additional software to write to it.

Windows does not see the OSX partition. It is hidden but you can unhidden it. But again you need extra software to read and write it.

wow thanks i never knew that! hahaha i always thouht they were independent of each other. now that u said it, a 3rd partition doesnt look as attractive anymore.
