    Install windows on a mac without DVD drive

    im trying to install windows xp sp2 with boot camp without a working cd drive...

    i have the disk image for windows xp sp2 in iso format and external hard drives.

    instructions anyone?

    I don't know if you can talk about disk images and backups on this forum. You should try disk mounting software like Daemon tool which mounts the iso image as a drive. Dunno if theres a mac version or counterpart.

    Can't install it from a disk image. If you could install it over the network, that may be possible, but I'm not sure you can do that with XP.
    Daemon tools will not work, because it has to run on an OS. You need something completely independent of an OS.

    I was able to get Leopard installed without physical media. I made an image and put it on an external drive. Forgot how I did it, but I was able to get the partition to be seen as an actual disc instead of hard drive partition. But I think that was special with Leopard...

    I don´t know about bootcamp but VMWare can install directly from an image file. If you don´t mind using win as a virtual machine you might want to take a look at that.
