Hi, first time mac user here. I recently bought my g/f a Mac book pro 13" and am trying to install a few programs for her. basically, i keep running into errors for example, Office for Mac keeps telling me it cannot find the installation form the disk and a trial of iwork, once downloaded, says it cannot load the image.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Im running OS X Lion 10.7.1

What exactly are you doing? Are you downloading the image files and going through a virtual drive on your desktop (making sure to not delete the image files)? Are you simply downloading the files and dragging them to the applications folder? What exact steps are you taking when you are trying to install these software titles.

With Office 2011 for mac im burning the image to a disk on a windows based computer. Im inserting the disk into my MBP and it runs as normal, starting the insallation. I agree to the agreement and select install path and when the Install finally starts its says "Failed, Could not find the install folder"

have nurnt 2 disks of two different versions. Anyway, since i was having issues with that, i thought i'd try iWorks, downloaded the trial from Apple. The image file downloaded to my download folder, when i click on it it say unable to load image......

So you're doing all the downloads on your Windows notebook, and then transferring over? That might be a point of conflict that's giving you the glitch.

Try the downloads directly on her Mac, and let us know how it goes.

Either that or just download the files as-is and transfer them over to the Mac, do not burn them to a CD/DVD. I also just tried downloading the iWork 09 trial and it worked fine. It was a dmg file that mounted a virtual drive on my desktop that ran the installation from that (like most other Mac software installation procedures).

Thanks for your response guys. But I only downloaded Office from windows. Iworks was on her mac and it wont mount. Do you need mounting software like daemons tools like you do on windows? or can i just transfer the Office image over and install?

You can just transfer the Office dmg file over to the Mac, don't do anything with the downloaded file on Windows since it wasn't meant for Windows. You do not need any special mounting tools in OS X. Simply open the iWork 09 dmg demo file, it will mount the virtual disk, and then it will start the installation process. That is all I did on my system and it worked so you are doing something wrong. Either that or the download didn't complete so try downloading it again.
