I have a MacBook Pro from 2009, and the harddrive recently died on it. I would like to get a new harddrive and reinstall the OS, as I do not care about saving any data from the old drive.

My only problem is that the SuperDrive on the MacBook is broken, so I will have to boot via USB. Is there a way to make a bootable USB from my Windows computer, to be used on my MacBook?

Thanks. Also, any suggestions for a harddrive that will fit/work are greatly appreciated!

Saying your DVD drive is broken implies you have the install DVD. In this case, I'd go grab an inexpensive external USB DVD drive [I just bought an LG external DVD writer the other day for $30] and use that.

Unlike the Apple external Super Drive, the "PC" versions will work with almost all computers.
