I just bought a new Macbook and upgraded the hard drive.

I am trying to setup bootcamp on the new 500gig drive I bought, I used the disk utility to copy the original "MacIntosh Hdd" to the new 500gig. I am currently booted up on the 500gig drive, when I go to boot camp I get the error:

"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition"

I did not do any additional partitioning on the 500gig other than the 1 main partition when copying the drive using disk utility.

    Anythoughts?

You need to use the disk utility to setup a partition for Bootcamp. Then boot from the MS CD/DVD to start the install process. Make sure you select the correct partition. There is a sticky at the top that has more detail.

Hm I don't think that's the problem that he's having. Basically when you copied your old partition to your new hard drive, I'm guessing it didn't create a single partition on your new hard drive which is what Boot Camp Assistant needs. I would suggest finding out how to merge everything (other partitions and the free space that isn't partitioned) on your hard drive into one partition. I don't think you can do that in Disk Utility when you're booting from the HD. Try using something like GParted or boot from the Mac OSX DVD and select Disk Utility from there. Then Partition and then One Partition.

Also, I don't think you absolutely have to use Boot Camp Assistant. Just create two partitions on your hard drive (one HFS+ & one FAT32/NTFS) using the GParted or Disk Utility and then boot from the Windows CD.

    Good Luck!
