I'm about to migrate to OSX buying a macbook. I would like to know the indispensables programs for macs like (for Win) Adobe reader, Photoshop, etc..

I was looking for Office for mac and I found one that doesn't have any description of language. I dont know if you understand what I mean but what I want to know is if the Microsoft Office 2004 is multi-language (it has the tool "spelling" for all (or at least english, portuguese, french) languages??)
    Thanks

    Alright first off.

OS X has its own built-in PDF viewer. Apples own iWorks suite is simply awesome in terms of what it can do such as exporting to numerous formats, such as Quicktime, Flash, html, Powerpoint, Word, plaintext, PDF, etc. Yes, I believe iWorks is multilanguage, as well as it's already Universal, which Office isn't yet. No even really knows if Microsoft is making Office for Mac anymore, I personally think they dropped it and it wouldn't surprise me, such as when Apple came out with Safari, MS dropped IE.

As for Office, Yes I believe it's multilanguage.

Photoshop and other adobe programs will work on OS X fine, however it's expected that the Adobe suite will be fully universal by the end of this year or early next year.

I'd highly recommend Bare Bones Software BBEdit for text-editing, or their free TextWrangler if you don't want to pay for BBEdit.

If you do any programming, definitely check out textmate, which is excellent: http://macromates.com/

I really like Transmit for FTP.

MS and Apple recently renewed the support for Office for the Mac for another 5 years, so a new Office should be in the works right now (although might not come out at the same time as Office 2007 for Windows).

VLC is probably indispensable as a media player.

If you have a bluetooth phone, I HIGHLY recommend Salling Clicker; it basically turns your phone into a remote control for a variety of apps (like iTunes, PowerPoint, etc.) with some very cool features - i.e. when you use it to control iTunes, it replicates the iTunes playing information on your phone and you can navigate your library, etc.

Adium is an excellent IM program (based on gaim).
