I need to scan a letter of recommendation with my Canon MX310, but when I'm trying to scan the file with Image Capture, the size of the file is huge (at 300DPI). It's 22,8 mb for a simple document scan.

    What am I doing wrong?

You can put it in grayscale or in black-and-white, that will probably cut down the size a bit.
