I was thinking of buying a refurb MBP from Apple since I can save $300. But I want to know when the LED back lit screens came with the MBP? I don't want to get one with out it, are they fairly new to them?

Has anyone else bought a refurb from apple before?

The MBP's got updates in late march this year. All new hardware upgrades, including LED screens on both 15inch models, and an option for it on the 17inch.

So pretty much only the newest MBP's have LED screens.

Damn I was looking forward to saving $300. That now puts the MBP in the "maybe" Section, grrr.

That is not correct. There was an update this year but the LED screens for all MBPs was put in last year. I know this because i bought mine August last year and that was after the LED update.

I think the ones around $1500, with the 8600 are led backlit displays.

I was looking at this. For a price of $1,799 Canadian.
So it should have a LED screen? That's good :)

The 15" got an LED upgrade with the Santa Rosa chipset last year. However the 17" only get the LED upgrade in March.
