I have been considering a rMBP, for some time now and I have heard a lot of good things about the Retina display. This would also be my first Mac. I have read about the image retention issues, particularly with LG displays, and that as of July 2013, the issue has not been completely resolved and new buyers can still get a problematic screen even with the revised LG models. It was disconcerting to read that customer support is hit and miss concerning the replacement of the screen, that their own silly test does not identify the issue correctly and how some Apple stores would not go ahead with the replacement. I feel like Apple would be too much of a hassle in fixing this issue, even with the warranty.
So I am writing to ask if there are any reputable Apple authorized resellers (online is ok as I doubt there are any local retailers where I live) from which I can order the laptop instead of Apple that would fix this issue if it arises. Better yet, are there any resellers that know about the issue and would accommodate my request by providing a computer with the right screen (Samsung) from the beginning? I cannot emphasize how important it is to have a seller that will be on top of the issue, so I dont have to struggle and fight with Apple over an problem that shouldnt have been present in the first place.

is that even still happening? Last i ever heard of it was a year ago, and seemed like a certain batch.

I know 2 with rmbp, 1 bought brand new on release last year, 2.6 ghz, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram and has LG display with the ghosting but it hasnt bothered her. Another bought 1 refurbished just now and got samsung display. I think half of all rmbp has lg and the other half is samsung? I read that lg looks better for some and I also read samsung can have problems but much more unlikely. Theres no need to worry if you have warranty to replace the screen (can be lg again, i read)and within 14 days you can return. There is a simple way to find out if its lg or samsung.

Nobody knows what kind of distribution the LG and Samsung displays have with the rMBP. Although there is a way of determining which display is installed in the rMBP, there is absolutely no way of determining this without actually using the unit (i.e. you can't look at the box and figure it out). That being said, I would wait on buying a rMBP. They are still running Intel's Ivy Bridge chipsets and processors while Haswell was released not too long ago. Haswell will bring better performance (especially at the rMBP's high resolution), better battery life, and Apple will upgrade the GPU to a newer Nvidia/AMD offering that will also work better with high resolution displays. I don't see a point in spending $1700+ when Apple is going to update the rMBP line here shortly. That and Haswell's advantages will be really evident in the rMBP.
I would like to get a rMBP but worried about image rentention
