The specs are pretty good, I would've said $1500 might be a little more fair. One thing to note, maybe you don't keep your computer very long but but to say it's getting kind of old? Try to appreciate what you have, it's a great machine, there are many of us still using old PowerBook G4's with Leopard and some of us are still on old iBooks running great on Tiger. You have an Intel based Mac which runs circles around any of those I just mentioned. Learn to appreciate what you have, rather than just dumping it to get the latest not everyone can afford a MBP. due to financial responsibilities. :)

Considering that its two generations old, and people say you can buy refurbs of the current gens for around 1500$, that sounds like a good deal. I'd say sell it, and then get a current gen MBP.

I would up the ante to about 1400-1500 since THIS is a brand new dv7t 17'' HP computer, this is the one that i just bought and that has a 1 year limited warranty. So, i would Atleast say your not going shorthanded out of this deal, but thats just what i think.

Dont forget to reply here, since i would like to begin a discussion about the dv7t as well as a comparison between that computer as well as yours...

LOL. I'm not hating, I have the latest iMac 24"....but it replaced an old G5 tower that I had kept for 3 years. This has nothing to do with hating, I think I was actually helping the OP by recommending him to save money rather than spends hundreds more to get a new MBP that has specs only a little bit better than his current model. He won't see much difference.
Being "geeks" as we are we get tied up too much on Merom, Naheim.....and end up spending money just to have temporary bragging rights.

If you keep a computer for at least 3 years and then upgrade it will be a very big difference but is it really worth spending $700+ to get the next MBP when his current one is hardly a dinosaur?

haha, for sure. I tend to switch comps at a rate of 8 months. Although I admit it's basically like paying 300$ a year on leasing in the end to keep up with it. I might try that though keep a machine for a few years. We'll see though
