Okay, so last night... I ordered it...

got my MBP 2 GHz with the 100 gig 7200 rpm drive. Ordered 2 gigs of the g.skill ram off newegg that xbandaidx recommended along with the BT Logitech v270 mouse and a long VGA cable for my desktop so I can use the dvi from my MBP to my 19" monitor.

Also ordered a new Slappa bag (the spyder one i think).

I got the free 2gig ipod nano (old version) that I'll be selling on ebay so i can get either the new 4gig nano or the new 30 gig unit. But I gotta see if they'll let me change my order to the new one if I can use the student rebate special on them.

I can't wait to get them!

BTW, the audio out on the MBP, it supports 5.1 through optical out on the headphone jack right?

    Cool, enjoy!

Regarding the rebate, it will only apply to the original Nano (they are being pretty explicit that it doesn't apply to the new models).

The audio outputs should do 5.1 as far as I know.

I just checked my link in my signature to look at the memory and they increased the price on it by over 20 dollars. I'm glad I got mine for 82 each.

    Anyways, great memory anyhow.

Yeah, I did call up apple just a min ago, and they said no way can I use it on the new ipods. But hey, at least I can probably get $100 or so for the old 2 gig ipod on ebay and use that money toward a 4 gig unit.

Yeah, everything will be here next week :-D When I get that, I get to call up crucial and have them replace 2/3 of my bad ram sticks in my desktop and server lol.

Well if Apple were to release an update within the next week before he gets his, they would automatically upgrade his to the merom core, that is if its within their merom release date.

congrats, hollownail.... did you ordered the mini-DVI to VGA adapter?

Too bad, can't find memory at reasonable prices down here, still stuck with 512MB. :( :hardfind:

Err I thought the MBP didn't need the mini-DVI.

Isn't there already an actual port there?

Maybe he just meant a DVI to VGA adaptor (as you said, the MBP has a full DVI port).

Wooky, the MBP doesn't need an adapter. I'll be going straght from the DVI out to the DVI in on my monitor. Only the MB needs the adapters (or DVI - VGA, which I have like, 12 of for the MBP to VGA monitor).

It shows that it sholud ship Friday and be here Tuesday. My ipod shipped today.
I just couldn't wait any longer, as not having a laptop is effecting both my school and work. And I can't send back my ram for my desktop to be replaced until I have another computer that works at home :p

I really expect it to just be a quiet update in the next week or two; something along the lines of the update to Core 2 Duo in the iMac line. I think that Apple is more likely to couple a new enclosure with something more significant than just a processor change. I also can't see Apple changing out the video card (or even what the point of it would be anyway, given how much the current X1600 is underclocked anyway).

Do you dislike the current enclosure? If so, probably best to wait til Spring, when they are likely to do a new enclosure to go along with Santa Rosa.

Although there's a possibility that even a new enclosure isn't going to be THAT different..... Apple has basically been refining the same basic enclosure for the past 5 years or so. Of course, that could also lead to the idea that Apple is overdue to come up with a new design. The other thing backing that up is that some people from Apple have said that the main reason they didn't change any case designs so far was because they wanted to emphasize a sense of continuity after the switch to Intel; so people would still realize that these were still Macs, and not get totally thrown off.

****... heh, bank denied the request from apple. So only the ipod shipped. Gotta get all that cleared up & approved through my bank first.

anyway, since I have 14 days to return the MBP if the new one comes out, I'll be keeping an eye out for C2D.

    __edit__

got that taken care of... but now my MBP will be here on Wed. instead of Monday/Tuesday.
