I have a friend running 10.3.x on a dual G5 2GHz. He's like 2 OSs behind and likely to stay that way.

lolz, some people are weird like that...

That's like my mom still using her Windows 2000. Some people are just not into computers and don't care.

Makes me wonder about those of us that are upgrade freaks.

I mean, wouldn't Tiger and CS3 serve a designer well for many many years?

I was going to upgrade my friend to Tiger, and I thought to myself, the only real "improvement" is Dashboard, and it's kinda stupid and I never use it myself. So, I just let him be.

I usually match my Windows friends to their hardware. I have a friend still pimpin' a PIII 900MHz. I won't let him run XP, I just have him stuck on Windows 2000. It matches his hardware well and is just fine for what he does with the computer.

I wish I could adopt the upgrade once a decade philosophy, would save a ton of money.

I find it very ironic that many of the Future Shop computers use Windows 2000. Given their name, Future Shop, they sure are ancient :D.

It most likely isn't running great because it's running ME. Worst version of Windows EVER.

Weird. I have an old PIII 750MHz desktop which runs xp fine, and in Canada I had an even older pII 300MHz that ran xp fine as well. Why wouldn't it let your friend run xp???

Mostly because Windows 2000 is fine for what he does with laptop and only had 256MB ram, I think he has 392MB now.

I'm sure it would run XP, there was no compelling reason to do so.

He has a Windows 2000 era computer, so it's a good match.

Windows 2000 was a solid OS. Even I was slow to move to XP.
