    Greetings

Title might be a bit confusing but i ll explain.
So i upgraded to the 2011 mbp and restored my Leo time machine backup to a new snow leopard system. My old system was 2.2ghz core 2 duo 2007.

Frankly saying i didnt notice much (if any) increase of performance while doing ordinary photoshop work / browsing. It was never slow but certain moments like opening files could get faster in my imagination. Only real improvement is obviously in gaming.

My current problem is that i am getting my macbook "thinking" a bit too much. Usually while having 15+ safari tabs opened (just ordinary sites but still). So i was thinking is safari root of the problem? Sometimes when i am opening a youtube window its getting stuck for a second or two which is not what i would expect from a super-duper quad core notebook :p

Another idea that i had in mind is re-installing system which i never did in 5 years and i hope to continue that way.

So, you overwrote a system designed for Snow Leopard, with a Leopard backup, and you have problems?

    I should think so.

Maybe you should have limited the "restoration" to a migration of Apps and transfer of data, instead.

    Hmm... Did i?

I opened my new mbp, and it was like:
    - you are using this mbp for a first time. Did you have a mac before?
    - yes i did
    - do you want to migrate data?
    - yes
    - give me your time machine back up
    - ok

Could this cause a problem? obviously i just wanted my user data and applications to be right where i left it.

I think forscythe is right. You should do a fresh install and just migrate over data, not the whole Time machine back up and see what happens.

but isnt it what i already did by using migration assistant? i migrated my data. Why would it want to overwrite system files or anything like that? Its a built-in mechanism anyway and you are telling me that it ruined my install?

Its kinda obvious that people who owned previous version of iOS may want to "migrate" to a device with newer iOS at some point.

So, you did a Migration? Your first post didn't mention that part, but instead said "restored my Leo time machine backup to...".

Anything else you want to restate or clarify?

You have to admit, that your original post was..., shall we say misleading insofar as it clearly indicates a problem of magnitude that would logically explain your problem, but was in fact not the case..

p.s. I thing Canadian Dude's post was simply made simultaneous to your clarification.

he meant Migration Assistant pulled it off the Time Machine backup... which works fine... what the issue is? i don't know, you'd have to do some troubleshooting and figure it out. First I'd try to reproduce it on Firefox and Chrome, and see if its just a Safari problem or not.

Maybe someone can see some "bad" processes ruining things for me?
Decided to post it just in case :)

I have a new 2011 MBP 13 and i get the same problem too, but I am only running safari with about 6 tabs opens. Youtube would studder somethime, sometime i would get the spinning wheel, and my flash plugin would randomly crash for no reason. When i refresh the page the flash plugin would work again.

i get the same problem with firefox 3.6 on a 2010 MBP 13"

'something' is going on which slows down the browser whenever i switch tabs. the whole systems slows for 2-3 seconds before i can start scrolling or otherwise interacting with the page.
