I don't know if iPhoto can do that. Try Seashore or Gimp.

You can export from iphoto to any size. You don't want to go resizing your "originals".

How is paint.net appropriate for an Apple/OS X thread? I went over to the site, hoping that like most freeware it would be cross platform but no. It isn't. I use the gimp myself. It's all I need. But to get back to the OP question, I checked and confirmed that you can export any arbitrary size from iPhoto.

Yep, as r0k said, use the Export Photo feature in iPhoto. It allows custom resizing to specific pixel height or width and various compression levels. What it does is keep the original as is in iPhoto and exports a resized copy to anywhere you want.

But remember, if all you want is to resize for the purpose of emailing, you can do it much easier with the email function within iPhoto.

Preview works as well for this feature.

You mean you can resize and save using Preview?

You can actually resize using Automator. :) (Plus than you can resize a whole bunch at a time)
