How to play wow in 1024x640 under bootcamp?

Hello all, currently I am playing wow under bootcamp, with the 2.0 drivers (if that matters), and just wondering if there is a way to make the game 1024x640? Because currently I play it at native resolution, and get 18-30fps outdoors, and double that indoors, with most stuff set to middle or max. The only wide options I have are 1280x800 or 1280x720, then there is 1024x768, 800x600, and so on, but 1024x640 is not listed, which would be nice cause it's still wide, but I would probably get more decent framerates while keeping the same or better quality level of the graphics.

I have all the patches installed.

 

Um... hrm... what happens if you change the desktop resolution?

How about windowed mode, change your desktop resolution and then maximize WoW?

 

I thought it was 1024x600, which WoW supports. I've seen it running on the OQO at that res.

 

I know this doesn't answer your question, but have you tried running WoW under OS X? Were the framerates better or worse than under Boot Camp?

I ask as I play WoW natively under OS X on my MBP, and get what I consider to be extremely good framerates with most settings maxxed out, though I'd wondered whether or not Boot Camp might give even better performance....

Well yeah whatever, only 1024x768 is displayed. 1024x640 (wide) and x600 is not shown anywhere.

Bootcamp will give you at least a 30% framerate boost in comparison to osx. I'm sure you get good framerates under osx because you have a macbook pro, but with a macbook it's different. While some people reported unplayable framerates under osx, I run it at native rez and most stuff maxed out and get 15fps at worst when outdoors in battles.

 

Windows and Direct X are much faster for most games than OS X and OpenGL, unfortunately.

It seems the resolutions available in WoW are tied to your hardware and what it will run. Now you MacBook is capable of a low res like that, but maybe not that exact one. You may also want to look at changing the config.wtf file. I don't know how to do it, but that may help in your search.

 

Sometimes the resolution that a game will allow is tied to the driver for the video card. I know Lord of the Rings Online is like this, and some others. However, unlike how I could recommend laptopvideo2go.com for trying out a different nVidia driver, I have no idea where you could go other than Intel's site for a different Intel video driver.

 

Yeah I have no idea either since it's just an intel gma 950 driver.
