So, I'm still waiting for my Mac to, "just work", as Apple puts it. It seems more like "it just works" if you download app. after app. and you'll still be lucky if it does. Is this the price we pay for being part of the Mac crowd?

When I go to MTV.com and click on The Leak, to hear a preview of a cd, I get a message telling me my browser doesn't support MIME (I thought everybody liked mimes? :D ).

So I did a search for "MIME" on the forum and downloaded flip4mac (as a recommended solution). Now I don't get the "error" message, but rather nothing happens at all. It was set to run in the browser. I made sure to restart before trying. I uninstalled it since nothing happened.

Next I downloaded Windows Media 9 for OS X, only to find I need another app to open that. So I downloaded StuffIt. Opened and installed WM 9. Now when I open the player from MTV.com, it says something along the lines of can't play the file, want to try using WM 9? I say yes and again, nothing happens.

Any tips to get this working? Is this what it's going to be like ALL the time or is this simply operator error (i.e. i'm an idiot :D )?

It works for me...I click on any of the links and my QuickTime launches and plays the tune. Uninstall Windows Media Player because that is just a waste, and make sure to install the latest version of Flip4Mac from the Flip4Mac website: http://www.flip4mac.com/

Flip4Mac should be fine in itself...have you tried re-installing Flip4Mac?

I reinstalled flip4mac. Now the links open up what I'm assuming is a quick time player, but tells me the URL is bad/does not exist.

hmmm...I'll keep trying. I don't have "Perian" though. Do I need it?

yeah, still nothing. Now quicktime pops up on my dock, but just sits there like a lump on a log. No player opens up, although the quicktime menu bar is visible at the top of the screen.

Just so we're on the same page, you guys are trying the Leona Lewis leak right? Other artists worked, but hers is the only one that opens up in the MTV "Media Player".

I just want to chuck this thing out the window. There's nothing as frustrating as trying to do the simplest task and not being able to.

LOL. Well, that makes me feel a little better.....sort of. I'm hoping it's just something wrong with the site and not a mac issue. Probably wishful thinking though.
